Home Alone Safety

Teaching your children about street smarts can help keep them safe as if they need to ever stay home alone. As your child gets older, you may want to give them a key to the house and let them spend a few hours at home alone before an adult gets home from work.

If you're letting your child be at home alone, make sure to keep an emergency kit and emergency phone numbers in a convenient place. It's also crucial to teach your children about the importance of calling 9-1-1 in case of an emergency. Lastly, make sure to tell your children when home alone, never to open the door to strangers and not to tell anyone they are going to be home by themselves.
