How To Check Your Baby’s Heart Beat

Fetal heart rate monitoring is one of the most important parts of prenatal care. By listening regularly to your baby’s heart beat, you and your practitioner can ensure that your baby is in good health.

What’s really exciting is that you can listen to your baby’s heartbeat at home with a machine called a fetal doppler.

It’s a small, handheld device that picks up sound waves from your baby’s heart and amplifies it, in the form of your baby’s heartbeat. Fetal dopplers are safe to use just make sure you buy one that’s FDA-approved. Though ultrasound is safe for baby, you don’t want to over do it and take any chances. So try to stick to no more than two or three ten minute exams each week.
